The high competition between big smartphone producers made them upgrade their devices more often than before in order to stay at the top. Four mobile OS monsters – Apple, Android, Windows and Blackberry – are at war with each other, and all of them have chances to win.
Apple’s iPhone has always been famous for its hardware and software completing each other, which positions this device as a very special one on the market. For instance, it was a big surprise for everyone that iPhone had no physical keyboard. But it was even a bigger surprise for the whole world that this seemingly irreplaceable part was so successfully replaced by the software. On the other hand, visual voicemail was received with great enthusiasm right away. Talking about more recent updates there were some new features of iOS 5 and iCloud project.
At the same time, Android platform is doing really good now, and dominates on the mobile OS market. Still, according to analysts, the fragmentation can cause serious issues for Android. Google’s long-lasting tries to fix this problem ended in nothing. Apparently, Android releases updates when they are needed by manufacturers only, since there is no standard operating system version available for many Android phones.
WebOS failed to meet any support in their expectations from the owing company, Palm, which couldn’t follow WebOS’s projects. It was then picked up with HP, announcing great plans, but their TouchPad on WebOS was a complete fail.
Windows, according to the latest researches, keeps their positions firm. Although they are not so fast in releasing updates, there are some interesting features like XboxLive accounts integration. Talking about the whole picture, iOS will probably get to the leading positions pretty soon.
